I Didn’t Know I Was a Problem

The Customer Service Paradox

You worked hard for your money. You walked in. You made your purchase. You said thank you like a civilized human. And then they hit you with it: “No problem.” Wait. Was I a problem? I didn’t know I was a problem. I thought I was just… shopping. But apparently my existence at the register was something they had to overcome. Congratulations to them for handling the ordeal of your transaction with such grace.

Maybe try “My pleasure” next time. At least then we all know someone’s actually happy about this exchange.
